As you may know Facebook are rolling out the timeline feature for brand pages in the coming weeks, which means that you will need one for your brand page.
One of the main new features is the large photo/image that can be displayed at the top of your brand page, known as the ‘cover photo’
The maximum size for a cover photo is 851 x 399 pixels. Ensure that when you design your cover photo that you leave enough room for your logo image which hovers above your cover photo.
The following images are some of our favourite cover photos from brands already using timeline.
Fanta cleverly incorporate the logo on the bottle to coincide with the cover photo image. Doing this gives your page a fluid look which is really popular with big brands and shows your creative side.
You may have seen other brand pages cover photos already and have wondered what you should use for yours. The following guidelines will tell you exactly what you CAN’T have featuring on your cover photo:
Calls to action:
Phrases such as ‘subscribe to our mailing list’ and ‘get it now here’
Price of purchase information:
Such as 50% off or ‘download it from our website.
Contact information:
Facebook are clear that they provide an ‘about section’ on your brand page and this should be used for your website addresses, email addresses and phone numbers.
References to Facebook features:
You must not use or reference any of the Facebook features such as ‘like’ or share’
Although you can’t use these on your cover photo there are no limits to you using them throughout the rest of your profile via status updates and your about section, which are perfectly demonstrated in the example images above.
